MANILA, Philippines — The expanded number coding scheme has been suspended on Wednesday, October 23, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The announcement was made on Facebook, following Malacañang’s suspension of government work and classes at all levels across Luzon due to tropical storm Kristine (international name: Trami).

“Suspendido ang pagpapatupad ng Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) o number coding scheme ngayong araw, Oktubre 23 (Miyerkules), kasunod ng anunsiyo ng Malacañang na walang pasok sa lahat ng government offices at klase sa lahat ng antas sa buong Luzon dahil sa patuloy na nararanasang pag-ulan dulot ng bagyong #KristinePH,” MMDA’s post read.

(The implementation of the Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the number coding scheme is suspended today, October 23 (Wednesday), following the announcement from Malacañang that there are no classes and all government offices are closed across Luzon due to the ongoing rains brought about by typhoon #KristinePH.)

The suspension of work and classes in Luzon, however, does not apply to frontline agencies involved in emergency services, according to the Office of the Executive Secretary.
